GE Appliance Repair in Miami & South Florida

Factory-trained service across South Florida. Call (754) 345-4515 or schedule online.

Your GE side-by-side refrigerator stops dispensing water on a Tuesday morning, and by Tuesday afternoon you’ve noticed the freezer is also running warmer than usual — frozen peas are slightly soft, the ice cubes have a sweet, weird smell. GE refrigerators are everywhere in South Florida; they sit in just about every rental property, every 1990s tract home in Pembroke Pines, every starter house in Hollywood and Davie, and a fair share of the condos in Brickell and Aventura. When one fails, it’s usually one of about seven failure modes — and most of them are fixable for a fraction of what a new fridge costs. We service the full GE line: refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, microwaves, and freezers across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach. Call (754) 345-4515 and we’ll have a tech out fast, with the common GE parts on the truck.

About GE

GE Appliances has been making household appliances since 1907 and was spun off from General Electric to Haier in 2016. The Louisville, Kentucky factory still makes most of what you’ll see in South Florida homes. The base GE line is the workhorse — affordable, available everywhere, easy to service. Above that sit GE Profile (mid-range), GE Cafe (style-focused with customizable hardware), and GE Monogram (true luxury). The base GE line is what builders spec into entry-level new construction across Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Cutler Bay, Homestead, and the southwest Broward developments. You’ll also see GE in older Miami Beach apartments and just about every rental unit in the metro. The brand’s strength is parts availability and tech familiarity — every appliance repair shop in Florida can get GE parts overnight, and most have worked on the platforms for years.

Common GE Problems We Fix

Failures we see most weeks:

  • Side-by-side refrigerator dual evaporator fan failure. Fresh-food side warms up while freezer holds. The single fan in older GE side-by-sides is responsible for circulating cold air to both compartments; when it fails, only the freezer stays cold. WR60X10307 is the replacement on most models.
  • Water inlet valve failure on dispenser fridges. No water from the door dispenser, or the ice maker stops filling. The dual-coil valve fails open or closed. About a 35-minute job.
  • Adaptive defrost board (motherboard) failure. Frost wall builds up on the back freezer wall because the defrost cycle never runs. WR55X10942 and the newer J-series boards are the usual replacements. Common on Profile and base GE fridges.
  • Range F1, F2, F3, F7 fault codes. F1 is a stuck keypad, F2 is over-temperature in the oven, F3 is sensor open, F7 is keypad shorted. Sensors and ERC (electronic range control) boards stocked on the truck.
  • Dishwasher won’t start (lights but no cycle). GDF and GDT series dishwashers — door latch switch, thermal fuse, or control board. We meter and find the open circuit in about 15 minutes.
  • Dryer no heat (gas). Gas dryer no-heat is almost always the igniter, the flame sensor, or the gas valve coils. Igniter is the most common — a $40 part and 25 minutes of labor.
  • Top-load washer won’t drain or spin. GE top-loaders (GTW, HTW) — lid switch, drain pump impeller jammed with a sock or coin, or a broken drive coupling. Diagnostic flow is well-established and parts are in stock.
  • French-door refrigerator ice maker not making ice. The mini ice maker module in the door fails, or the water line freezes. We test the module first; if it’s bad we swap it.

South Florida Service Areas

GE is everywhere, so we are too. Heavy call volume in Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Hollywood, Davie, Cooper City, Sunrise, Plantation, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Margate, Tamarac, Hialeah, Doral, Kendall, Homestead, Cutler Bay, Westchester, Miami Lakes, Aventura, and all of central and east Fort Lauderdale. We also handle GE service in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and West Palm Beach. The most common GE parts ride on every truck.

What to Expect

Service call is $59 and applies to the repair if you approve. Two-hour arrival window with a text from the tech when 30 minutes out. Our techs see GE every day; first-visit completion runs about 80 percent because we know the failure patterns and stock the parts. Most repairs are done same-day. Special-order control boards or rare parts may push to a second visit.

FAQ

My GE fridge is warm on top but cold in the freezer — what’s broken?
Almost certainly the evaporator fan motor or the damper. Single-fan side-by-side designs lose the fresh-food side first when the fan fails.

How much does a GE refrigerator repair usually cost?
Most repairs land between $180 and $420 with parts and labor. Sealed-system work (compressor, refrigerant) goes higher — $700-$1,100 — and at that point we’ll walk through repair-vs-replace honestly.

My GE dishwasher won’t start, just beeps three times.
Three beeps usually means the door isn’t closing fully — the latch switch or the door alignment. We adjust or replace.

Is it worth fixing a 15-year-old GE side-by-side?
Usually yes if the repair is under $400. The cabinets are good for 20+ years and the platform is well-supported with parts.

Will you work on a stacked GE washer/dryer?
Yes. We have the rigging to unstack and restack. Adds about 25 minutes.

Do you service GE microwaves?
Over-the-range yes, countertop sometimes (depends on model — many countertops are throwaway).

GE Maintenance That Saves Money in the Long Run

For side-by-side refrigerators, vacuum the condenser coils twice a year. The coils are usually behind a kick plate at the front bottom or behind a back panel — either way they load up with dust and pet hair in South Florida, and a clogged condenser is the leading cause of premature compressor failure. Pull the kick plate, vacuum the coils with a brush attachment, and re-install.

For dishwashers, check the chopper blade in the sump area every 6 months. The chopper is the small blade that breaks up food debris before it reaches the drain pump; debris can wrap around it and stop it from spinning. Clear by hand.

For top-load washers, lift the agitator at least once a year and clean under it. Lint and detergent residue build up and can cause balance issues. Keep the lid switch area clean and free of buildup.

Gas dryer maintenance: check the dryer vent at the wall annually. Miami humidity causes lint to clump up faster than in dry climates and a partial vent blockage trips the thermal fuse, kills the heating element, or causes long dry times.

Where GE Lives in South Florida

Mainstream homeowner, suburban single-family. GE is the volume mainstream brand we service most often across Miami-Dade and Broward — Doral, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, Kendall, Westchester, and Hialeah. Average ticket size is lower than the luxury brands but volume is high. Property managers running rental fleets in North Miami Beach, Aventura mid-rise buildings, and Hollywood routinely spec GE for the parts-pipeline depth and the truck-stock availability of common consumables.

GE Service Interval Recommendations

The cadences below come from our field experience on GE in South Florida — humidity, salt air, and high-traffic kitchens push intervals tighter than the manufacturer manuals usually publish.

Item Recommended cadence
Fridge condenser cleaning every 6 months
Dryer wall vent professional cleaning every 18 months
Range surface element terminal check every 12 months
Dishwasher filter rinse every 30 cycles
Door gasket wipe (fridge) monthly
Ice maker fill tube inspection every 12 months

GE and the South Florida Climate

GE fridge evaporator fans (WR60X10185) cluster in failures every August-September after the wet-season humidity peak. The motor bearings absorb moisture and seize. We carry 6-8 of these on the truck during peak season. GE range terminal blocks corrode in homes within 2 miles of the coast — Hollywood, Hallandale, North Miami Beach — and we replace the block + surface-element receptacle rather than just the receptacle to clear the corrosion fully.

GE Extended Repair Pricing

Pricing below is the working range our techs see on GE in 2026 across South Florida. The bottom of each range is a straightforward part-swap; the top accounts for harder access, additional diagnostics, or rare-stock parts that require special-order fulfillment.

Repair Typical range
Evaporator fan motor WR60X10185 $245-$340
Defrost control board WR55X10942 $285-$385
Ice maker assembly WR30X10093 $285-$385
Range bake element WB44T10010 $189-$285
Range surface element receptacle $185-$245
Dishwasher control board WD21X10371 $285-$385
Top-load transmission GTW $385-$540
Dryer drum belt + idler kit $185-$285

What Happens on the First GE Visit

Every GE call starts the same way. The tech confirms the model and serial number on the data plate, photographs the install for the file, and asks two or three diagnostic questions before pulling the unit. Bringing the right error code, the unit’s age, and any recent power events (lightning, brown-out, breaker trip) to the call cuts diagnostic time roughly in half. Most GE repairs finish on the first visit if the model is current production and the failure matches a common pattern. Sealed-system work, control-board replacements, or specialty parts that need to ship from outside our local warehouse can stretch to a return visit.

Before the tech leaves, you get a written estimate with the part number, the labor charge, the warranty coverage, and the expected completion date if a part needs to be ordered. We don’t charge for the estimate beyond the $59 service call (which applies to the repair if you approve the quote). If the unit isn’t worth repairing — which happens occasionally on GE units past the 15-20 year mark — we say so plainly and refund any deposit beyond the service call. Honest repair-vs-replace math is a core part of how we work.

More GE Questions We Get

Where is the GE serial number?
Fridges: inside fresh-food on left wall or upper ceiling. Ranges: inside the storage drawer at the front frame. Dishwashers: inside the door at the top edge. Washers/dryers: inside the lid or door.

Is GE Appliances still owned by GE?
No. Haier Group acquired GE Appliances in 2016. The brand retains the GE name under license and the Louisville, Kentucky operations continue, with Haier funding the modernization.

How do I read a GE model number?
First two letters identify product type (GS=side-by-side fridge, JB=electric range, JGB=gas range, GTW=top-load washer, GDT=dishwasher). The next characters identify size, tier, and color. Production year is in the serial number, first two characters.

Are GE Cafe and GE Profile parts the same as standard GE?
Many internal parts share platforms — wash motors, igniters, control boards. Visible parts (knobs, handles, glass) are tier-specific. We cross-reference at the GE parts catalog level and order the correct tier.

Can I still get parts for a 15-year-old GE Profile fridge?
Yes for most consumables. Evap fans, defrost boards, ice makers, door gaskets, water valves remain in current production through GE’s parts pipeline. Cosmetic and specialty parts may need NOS sourcing.
