Dryer Repair in Tampa, FL

Dryer repair in Tampa
Tampa gave us 38 dryer jobs since late August 2025. Westchase (33626) had six, New Tampa (33647) five, South Tampa (33611) four and 33619 three. Nearly all were houses.
No heat came first with six calls and a drum that would not turn second with four. A crushed or lint-packed vent duct makes a dryer overheat and trip its safety fuse, and then it tumbles cold. We check the vent before replacing heat parts. Samsung and LG were tied at five machines each; Kenmore had two.
22 jobs became repairs above $100, with the middle half from $240 to $378 and a median of $321. 40% of visits started within 24 hours and 63% within two days, so dryers are the appliance where Tampa scheduling is tightest. Ask for the first open slot when you call.

No heat is the usual call, and the vent is the usual cause
The most common Tampa dryer complaint in our records is a dryer that tumbles but stays cold. Second is a drum that will not turn. Both have a short list of causes, and one of them is outside the dryer.
A dryer that overheats trips its thermal fuse, a one-time safety part, and after that it runs cold. The fuse is cheap. What blew it usually is not the dryer itself but a vent that cannot move air: a crushed foil duct behind the machine, a long run through the attic or the garage wall, a bird nest in the outside flap, or years of lint. Replace the fuse without fixing the vent and it blows again in weeks. That is why we check airflow before we replace heat parts.
On electric dryers the other no-heat parts are the heating element, the high-limit thermostat and the cycling thermostat. On gas dryers it is the igniter, the flame sensor or the gas valve coils. A gas dryer that clicks and lights for a few seconds, then goes out, very often has weak valve coils.
A drum that will not turn usually has a broken belt, a seized idler pulley or worn drum rollers. If the motor hums and the drum does not move, unplug it; a motor straining against a stuck drum can burn out.
Checks you can do yourself
- Run the dryer for a minute on high heat and go outside to the vent flap. You should feel strong, warm air. Weak air means a restricted vent.
- Pull the dryer out and look at the duct behind it. Crushed or kinked foil duct should be replaced with rigid or semi-rigid metal.
- Clean the lint screen and look into the slot it sits in. Lint packed down there blocks air too.
- For a gas dryer, make sure the gas valve behind it is open. It gets bumped more often than you would think.
If the dryer smells like something is burning, stop using it and call. Lint fires start in exactly the conditions described above.
What dryer repair costs in Tampa
For Tampa addresses, 22 paid dryer repairs over $100 had a median of $321, with the middle half from $240 to $378. Across Tampa Bay, 72 paid dryer repairs had a median of $309, half between $260 and $372. Diagnosis-only visits are excluded. The $59 service call is credited toward the repair.
Thermal fuses, belts and igniters are the low end. Heating elements and valve coils sit in the middle. Control boards on newer Samsung and LG dryers are the high end, and that is also where an older machine stops being worth fixing.
Brands and where we see them
Samsung and LG were tied for the most Tampa dryer jobs, with Kenmore next. Westchase sent more dryer calls than any other part of Tampa last year, then New Tampa and South Tampa. Many of these are in garages or in laundry closets off the kitchen, with vent runs that are longer than the manual allows. A dryer at the end of a twenty-five-foot run with three elbows is going to take two cycles to dry towels no matter how new it is.
Scheduling
Dryers are where our Tampa schedule is tightest. Last year 40% of Tampa dryer visits started within 24 hours of the booking and 63% within two days. If your dryer quits, call early in the day and ask for the first open slot. Until then, don’t keep running a dryer that smells hot.
Dryer repair questions from Tampa
Why does my dryer run but not heat?
On an electric dryer it is usually the thermal fuse, the heating element or a thermostat; on gas, the igniter or the gas valve coils. A blown thermal fuse almost always means the vent is restricted, so the vent has to be checked as part of the repair.
How much does dryer repair cost in Tampa?
The median paid dryer repair at a Tampa address was $321 last year, with half of repairs between $240 and $378. The $59 service call comes off the repair price.
My dryer takes two cycles to dry. Is it broken?
Usually the dryer is fine and the vent is not. Long or crushed vent runs, a clogged outside flap or lint build-up slow drying long before any part fails. If the vent is clear and the air coming out is cool, then a heat part is weak.
Do you work on gas dryers?
Yes. Igniters, flame sensors and gas valve coils are common repairs. If you ever smell gas, shut the valve behind the dryer, leave the house and call your gas utility before calling us.
Can you clean my dryer vent?
We clear what we can reach from the dryer and check airflow as part of every no-heat repair. A long attic or roof run that is packed solid may need a dedicated vent cleaning service, and the technician will tell you if that is the case.
