Massage chair repair at home in South Florida, Tampa Bay, Sarasota and the Naples and Fort Myers area. Rollers that stopped moving, kneading or tapping that quit, airbags that no longer inflate, grinding from inside the backrest, a dead remote or a chair that will not power on. The service call is credited to the repair you approve.

A massage chair is a recliner with a small machine shop inside. Under the upholstery there is a roller carriage that travels up and down a track, separate motors for kneading and tapping, an air pump with valves and hoses that feed the airbags, a recline motor, often foot rollers and heat pads, and a main board that runs the programs. When one function quits, the rest of the chair usually keeps working, and that narrows the search a lot. The technician opens the back cover, runs each program and tests the motor, pump or valve that should be moving.

Not every call is a breakdown. In August 2026 an owner in Boca Raton asked for a service visit on a chair that still ran, with a check of the rolling, kneading and tapping programs. Vlad J. replaced the grease on the gears and serviced the mechanism. Job total: $339.

Massage chair problems we fix

Rollers stuck or not traveling up and down
The carriage is moved by its own motor through a screw or belt and stops at position switches. A worn belt, a failed travel motor, a switch that no longer reports position, or a carriage that jumped its track will all stop the rollers in one place.
Kneading or tapping stopped
Kneading and tapping run on separate motors and gear sets. If one works and the other does not, the fault is on that motor, its gears or its connector, not on the main board in most cases.
Grinding, clicking or squealing
Dry or worn gears, a tired bearing or a loose carriage. Grease and a mechanism service fix the dry ones; worn teeth mean a gear or a gearbox has to be replaced.
Airbags do not inflate, or one zone is weak
The air system is a pump, a block of solenoid valves and a set of hoses. A pump that runs without pressure, a valve that stays shut, a hose that came off its fitting, or an airbag that split each show up differently, and we test them in that order.
Will not recline, or the leg rest is stuck
The recline and leg rest use linear actuators much like a power recliner. The actuator, its limit switch or the board output that drives it is the usual cause.
No power, dead remote or an error code
Check the power switch on the chair and the outlet first. After that it is the fuse, the power supply board, the remote cable or the remote itself. If the remote shows an error code, write it down: on most brands the code points to the part.
Foot rollers or heat not working
Foot rollers have their own motor and belt; heat pads have their own element and connector. Both are separate from the main massage mechanism and usually cheaper to fix.

Parts, warranty and price

Massage chair parts mostly come from the brand, not from general parts suppliers. Before ordering we check that the part exists for your model. For some older or discontinued chairs it no longer does, and we tell you that at the first visit instead of after the parts order.

Many chairs come with a maker’s warranty that includes in-home service for the first years. If yours is still covered, call the brand first. Once the warranty is over, we can take it from there.

You get the price in writing after the diagnosis, before any part is ordered. A service like the Boca Raton job above, with gear grease and mechanism maintenance, came to $339. Repairs that need a board, a motor or an air pump cost more and depend on the brand’s parts.

Repair or replace?

A new massage chair from the brands above costs anywhere from under $2,000 to well over $8,000, so a repair with available parts is usually the cheaper road. Replacement starts to make sense when the main board for an older model is no longer sold, or when the frame and mechanism both need major parts. We give you both numbers before you decide.

Where we repair massage chairs

Massage chairs weigh 150 to 300 pounds, so the repair happens where the chair stands. We need some room behind it to open the back cover. In South Florida we come to Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach. On the Gulf Coast we cover Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota, Bradenton, Naples, Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

For power recliners and reclining sofas, see power recliner repair. For chairs that lift the user up, see lift chair repair.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair massage chairs at home?
Yes. A massage chair is too heavy to carry to a shop, so the technician works on it where it stands, with the back cover open.
Why did my massage chair stop working?
Start with the power switch on the chair and the outlet. If those are fine, the cause is usually the fuse, the power supply board, the remote or its cable. An error code on the remote often points straight to the failed part.
Why are the airbags not inflating?
Either the air pump is not building pressure, a solenoid valve is not opening, a hose came off, or an airbag split. If only one zone is weak, the hose or the valve for that zone is the usual suspect.
Why is my massage chair making a grinding noise?
Mostly dry or worn gears in the roller mechanism. If the gears are only dry, new grease and a mechanism service fix it. Worn teeth mean a gear or gearbox replacement.
Can you get parts for my brand?
For most current models, yes, through the brand. We check availability for your exact model before ordering and tell you if a part has been discontinued.
How much does massage chair repair cost?
It depends on the part. Gear grease and a mechanism service on a Boca Raton chair came to $339 in August 2026. A board, motor or air pump costs more. You get a written price before anything is ordered.
Which areas do you cover for massage chair repair?
