Whirlpool dryers are the most repairable machines in the laundry room. The 29-inch platform that Whirlpool has built for decades, under its own name and as Maytag, Amana, Kenmore and Roper, uses a thermal fuse, a heating element, a belt, four rollers and an idler pulley, and every one of those is on the truck. When a Whirlpool dryer runs but does not heat, it is the fuse or the element, and the fuse blew because the vent stopped moving air. That last part is the one most shops skip, and it is why a fuse replaced without a vent check comes back in six months. Here is the list, the prices, and where the vent fits.

Whirlpool dryer problems and what we do about them
Runs but no heat
Electric: the thermal fuse on the blower housing or the heating element. Gas: the igniter, the flame sensor or the gas valve coils, which on Whirlpool dryers fail in that order. We meter each and check the vent airflow before leaving, because the fuse blew for a reason and the reason is still in the duct.
Heats, then stops heating mid-cycle, clothes take two runs
The high-limit thermostat is cycling the element because the dryer is overheating, and it is overheating because the vent is blocked or the blower wheel is packed with lint. We clean the vent to the outside where the run allows and clear the blower housing. A gas dryer doing this has a valve coil that opens once and quits when it warms up, which is a specific and cheap part.
Squeal, thump or scrape on every rotation
Drum rollers, the idler pulley or the rear drum glides. Whirlpool rollers wear flat around year six. We replace the four rollers, the pulley and the belt as a maintenance kit with the drum out, because doing one and leaving three brings the noise back within a season.
F01, F22, F28, F70: control and sensor codes
F01 is the main board, F22 and F23 the exhaust thermistor, F28 and F29 the moisture sensor circuit, F70 the user interface not talking to the board. Each code points to one part. The thermistor and the sensor are cheap; the board is not, and we only quote it after the sensors test good.
Will not start, hums, or drum does not turn
A snapped belt if it hums, a broken belt switch that tells the board the belt is gone, or a failed drive motor. Belts are truck stock on every Whirlpool platform; motors are a same-day part on the common WED and WGD models.
Dead panel, no lights
A blown thermal fuse on the older mechanical-timer models cuts power to the whole dryer, not just the heat. On electronic models it is the board or a failed door switch. We check the fuse and the switch before condemning a board.
Door will not latch, or dryer stops when you let go of the door
A worn door catch or a failed door switch. Both are ten-minute parts.
Sensor dry ends early, clothes damp
Moisture sensor bars inside the drum coated with dryer-sheet residue, or a failed sensor harness. Cleaning the bars is part of the visit; the harness is a same-day part.

Repair or replace
A Whirlpool dryer is worth repairing at nearly any age. The parts that fail cost a fraction of the machine, the platform has not changed in a way that makes parts scarce, and a fifteen-year-old WED4815 with a new element and a maintenance kit will often outlive whatever replaces it. The only case where we quote a new dryer is a motor and a board failing in the same year on a unit past twelve years, and even then the stacked laundry centers tip back toward repair because the washer half is fine.
Frequently asked questions
Do you repair Whirlpool dryers in Miami and Broward?
Yes, across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, seven days a week, electric and gas, plus the Maytag, Amana and Kenmore dryers Whirlpool builds. Same-day slots most days when you call before noon at (754) 345-4515.
Why does my Whirlpool dryer run but not heat?
Electric: the thermal fuse or the heating element, $120 to $310. Gas: the igniter, flame sensor or valve coils, $150 to $290. The vent is checked in every heating repair, because a blocked vent is what blew the fuse.
My Whirlpool dryer heats and then goes cold halfway through. What is that?
Overheating, so the high-limit thermostat cuts the element: a blocked vent or a lint-packed blower wheel. On gas dryers a valve coil that quits when warm gives the same symptom. Vent cleaning runs $140 to $320, coils $150 to $290.
How much does it cost to fix a squealing Whirlpool dryer?
$220 to $380 for the maintenance kit: four rollers, the idler pulley and the belt, replaced together with the drum out. Doing one part and leaving the others brings the noise back.
Is a 14-year-old Whirlpool dryer worth repairing?
Usually yes. The parts are cheap, still available, and the cabinet and drum last. We only quote a new dryer when the motor and the board fail together on an old unit.
Do you repair Maytag and Kenmore dryers too?
Yes. Maytag MED and MGD, Amana NED and NGD, and Kenmore 110-series dryers are Whirlpool platforms with the same parts and the same prices.
