Samsung dryer codes and symptoms
Runs but no heat, clothes still damp
Electric models: the heating element has opened, or the thermal fuse on the heater housing has blown. Gas models: the igniter, the flame sensor or a gas valve coil. We meter each in order and we check the vent airflow before we leave, because a blown thermal fuse means the dryer overheated, and it overheated because the air was not leaving. Replacing the fuse without the vent is a repeat call.
HE, hE or HC code
Heating fault. On electric units it is the element, the thermistor or the high-limit thermostat; on gas it is the ignition chain. Samsung throws HE when the thermistor sees no temperature rise, so a dryer with a good element and a dead thermistor shows the same code.
Squeal, thump or scrape on every rotation
Drum rollers, the idler pulley or the drum bearing. Samsung idler pulleys start squealing around year five and get loud fast. We replace the rollers as a set with the pulley and the belt while the drum is out, because doing one and leaving three worn ones brings the noise back within a season.
tE, tE3 or tS: thermistor
The temperature sensor in the blower housing has failed or its connector corroded. It is a $30 part and an hour of labor, and it stops a lot of dryers from heating at all.
dC, dE or door open message while closed
Door switch or door latch. On Bespoke units with the reversible door the hinge-side switch is the usual culprit. Same-visit part.
Will not start, hums, or drum does not turn
A snapped drum belt if it hums, a failed drive motor if it does nothing, or a broken belt switch that tells the board the belt is gone. Belts are truck stock.
Takes two cycles, hot to the touch, lint everywhere
The vent. A South Florida condo dryer vent that runs thirty feet through the ceiling clogs with lint and the dryer cannot breathe. We measure the airflow at the outlet, clean the vent to the outside where we can, and tell you when the run itself needs a booster or a rebuild. This is the cause behind most element and fuse failures on this list.
Sensor dry stops early, clothes damp
Moisture sensor bars inside the drum coated with dryer-sheet residue, or a failed sensor harness. Cleaning the bars is included in the visit; a harness is a same-day part.

Repair or replace
Almost every Samsung dryer repair is worth doing at any age under twelve years, because the parts that fail are cheap and the drum, the cabinet and the motor last. The exception is a drive motor and a control board failing in the same year on a unit past ten years, where the two repairs reach half the price of a new DVE45.
