Whirlpool dishwashers are the ones in most South Florida rentals and in most houses built before the condo boom, and they fail in a short, predictable list. A Whirlpool that will not drain has a blocked check valve or a dead drain pump. One that will not start has a door latch or a stuck key. One with the clean light blinking has a heater circuit fault that is almost never the board. The WDT and WDTA models built since 2012 share their tub, pump and control with KitchenAid and Maytag, so the parts are on the truck and the prices are moderate. Here is the list and what each fix costs.

Whirlpool dishwasher problems, by code and symptom

F8 E4 or F9 E1: will not drain, water in the bottom
A blocked check valve under the sump, debris in the drain pump impeller, or a drain hose pushed too far into the disposal so it siphons. F9 E1 specifically is the drain pump not clearing in time. We clear and test before replacing, and the pump on the WDT platform is a same-visit part when it has failed.
Clean light blinking, or F7 E1: heater fault
The water did not reach temperature. The heating element or the wash motor that circulates water across it, occasionally the thermistor on older DU units. We meter the element and the motor before anyone talks about a board.
F6 E1, F6 E2, F6 E4: will not fill
The inlet valve, its screen clogged with mineral grit from South Florida water, a stuck float switch, or the water supply itself. Screens are cleaned free with the visit; a valve is a same-day part.
Will not start, or door will not latch
The door latch assembly on WDT and WDF models, or the mechanical latch on the older DU and GU units. The control refuses to start with a door it reads as open. Same-visit part.
F2 E1 or a dead or unresponsive panel
A stuck key or a user interface that has lost contact with the control. Steam and moisture in the top-control ribbon is the usual cause. We dry and test the panel and only quote the main board after the panel tests good.
Hums but does not wash, dishes dirty on one rack
The wash motor, or the diverter valve that switches water between the racks. The diverter is the cheaper and more common part on the WDT platform.
Leaking from the front corners or under the door
The door gasket, the lower door seal, or a cracked spray arm throwing water at the door. On older units the door spring and cable let the door drop and the seal no longer meets the tub.
Dishes wet, or white film on glasses
Rinse aid empty or the dispenser stuck, or hard-water scale on the heater. We fix the dispenser, descale the sump, and set the rinse-aid dose for Miami water.

Repair or replace

Pumps, latches, valves, elements, seals and dispensers are worth doing on any Whirlpool dishwasher under twelve years, and the older DU and GU machines are simple enough to keep going past that. The line is a wash motor and a control board failing together on a unit past nine years, where the pair reaches half the price of a new WDT730. We give both numbers and let you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair Whirlpool dishwashers in Miami and Broward?
Yes, across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, seven days a week, top-control, front-control and the older DU and GU models, plus Maytag and Amana dishwashers built by Whirlpool. Same-day slots most days when you call before noon at (754) 345-4515.
Why does my Whirlpool dishwasher have water in the bottom?
It is not draining: a blocked check valve, debris in the pump or a siphoning drain hose most often, $130 to $210 to clear. A failed drain pump runs $170 to $310.
My Whirlpool dishwasher clean light keeps blinking. What is it?
A heater fault: the water did not reach temperature. It is the heating element or the wash motor far more often than the board, and we meter both before quoting. An element runs $180 to $330.
My Whirlpool dishwasher will not start. Is it the control board?
Usually the door latch, $150 to $280, or a stuck key on the panel after a steam cycle. We test the latch and the panel first; a board is only quoted after both test good.
How much does Whirlpool dishwasher repair cost?
Clearing and small parts run $130 to $330. A wash motor $280 to $500, a touch panel $240 to $440, a main board $260 to $480. The $59 service call is free when you approve the repair.
Is a 12-year-old Whirlpool dishwasher worth repairing?
For a pump, latch, valve, element or seal, yes. If the wash motor and the board fail together past nine years, we quote a new unit alongside the repair and let you decide with both numbers.
