Samsung washers fail in a pattern, and the pattern depends on which kind you own. Front-loaders in the WF45 and WF50 families drain badly and, past six or seven years, shake themselves apart at the spider arm behind the drum. 5C, 5E or nd: will not drain, stuck with water
The drain pump. On front-loaders the pump filter behind the small lower door is often packed with lint, coins and hair ties; clearing it is the whole repair a third of the time. When the filter is clean and the code stays, the pump motor has failed. Samsung pumps also seize when a tiny object gets past the filter and wedges the impeller. We test the pump under load before replacing it, because a blocked drain hose gives the same code.
Loud banging on spin, drum feels loose
On a Samsung front-loader this is the spider arm, the three-legged aluminum casting that holds the drum to the shaft. Detergent residue corrodes it over years until a leg cracks, and the drum then swings freely. It needs a new inner drum assembly, and on machines past seven years we always quote a replacement washer beside it. On top-loaders the same symptom is the suspension rods, which is a much cheaper fix.
UC, UE or Ub: unbalanced, will not spin up
Top-load WA series: the four suspension rods have sagged. We replace all four as a set. Front-load: a broken shock absorber or a loose counterweight bolt. Either way the machine detects the wobble and refuses to spin, which leaves clothes soaking wet.
4C or 4E: not filling
Water supply. Inlet screens clogged with the mineral grit in South Florida water, a kinked hose, or a failed inlet valve. Clearing the screens is included in the visit. A valve is a same-day part.
dC, dE or dL: door problem
Door lock assembly on front-loaders, lid lock or lid switch on top-loaders. If the door is locked with a wet load inside, we drain through the pump filter first, then replace the lock, so nothing ends up on the floor.
Stuck at 1 minute, cycle never ends
A Samsung habit. The machine is trying to balance a load or drain and keeps adding time. Usually a partially blocked drain or a failing pump; occasionally the load sensor or a control board that has lost its calibration. We check the drain side first because that is the cheap answer.
Leaking from the bottom
Drain pump housing crack, a split internal hose, or on older WF45 units the tub-to-pump bellows. A front leak at the door is the boot gasket. We find the source with the panel off and the machine running, not by guessing from a puddle.
Smells, black flecks on laundry
