Behind OE is usually a clogged drain pump or a drain hose that siphons; behind AE is a real leak or a false trip from steam. LG dishwasher codes and what they mean

OE: will not drain

The drain pump is clogged or has failed, the drain hose is kinked or pushed too far into the disposal, or the disposal knockout was never removed on a new install. We clear the pump and the hose first, because the pump is fine more often than not, and replace it when the motor has gone.

AE: leak sensor tripped

Moisture reached the sensor in the base pan. A door seal, a hose, the sump gasket, or the TrueSteam generator on models that have one, or a false trip from steam during a hot cycle. We open the base, find the source, dry the sensor and fix the part. Cutting power clears a false trip; it does nothing for a real leak.

IE: not filling

The inlet valve, its screen packed with mineral grit, or the water supply. Screens are cleaned free with the visit; the valve is a same-day part.

FE: overfilling

The inlet valve is stuck open or the pressure sensor is misreading. Usually the valve; we meter the sensor before replacing it.

LE: wash motor

The circulation motor is locked or drawing too much current. Debris in the impeller, or a failed motor. We clear and meter before replacing.

HE, tE: heater or thermistor

The water did not reach temperature or the sensor is out of range. The heater on LG sits in the sump; the thermistor is separate and cheap. We meter both first.

nE, bE: diverter or vent

nE is the diverter motor that switches water between the spray arms; bE is the Dynamic Dry vent or fan. Dishes on one rack dirty, or dishes wet with the fan silent. Same-day parts.

CL on the display, will not start

Child lock. Not a fault. Hold the button the display names for three seconds. We tell you this over the phone so you do not pay a service call for it.

Door will not latch, or starts and stops

The door latch assembly or the door switch. A control that reads the door as open refuses to run. Same-visit part.
