LG sells more front-load washers in South Florida than any other brand, and we open more of them than any other brand too. Since July 2026 Berne is an LG Authorized Service Center, which means factory parts, LG’s own diagnostic procedures, and warranty work billed to LG instead of to you when the machine qualifies. The three calls we take most often on LG washers are a drain error, a loud spin, and a door that will not unlock. Two of those are cheap. One is not, and the difference is worth knowing before you call anyone.

LG washer problems, by error code and symptom
OE code, washer will not drain
The most common LG washer call in South Florida. Nine times out of ten it is a coin, a bra wire or a sock wedged in the drain pump filter behind the small door at the bottom left. The tenth time the pump motor itself has failed. We clear the filter, test the pump under load, and replace it if the impeller or windings are gone. Front-load LG units also throw OE when the drain hose is pushed too far into the standpipe and siphons.
Loud grinding or roaring on spin, water under the machine
This is the drum bearing. LG front-loaders built between 2018 and 2022 wear the rear bearing and tub seal earlier than the design intended, and once water gets past the seal the bearing rusts within weeks. The noise starts as a hum on the final spin and grows to a jet engine. On WM3400 through WM4000 we rebuild it with the bearing kit or replace the outer tub assembly, depending on how far the shaft has scored. We tell you the honest number against a new machine before starting.
LE code, drum will not turn
Direct-drive motor fault. Usually the hall sensor on the back of the motor or a wiring harness that chafed through, occasionally the stator itself. LE also appears when the load is too heavy for the motor to sense position, so we check with an empty drum first. Hall sensors are a same-visit part on every LG we carry stock for.
UE code, walks across the floor on spin
On front-loaders this is a broken shock absorber or a shifted counterweight. On top-loaders like the WT7300 it is the four suspension rods, which sag with age and let the tub rock. We replace all four rods together; replacing one leaves the tub off-center and the code comes back.
dE or dE1 code, door will not lock or unlock
Door lock switch assembly, or a door boot that has swelled and is holding the door slightly open. If the door is stuck locked with water inside, we drain it manually through the pump filter before touching the lock, so nothing floods the closet.
IE code, fills slowly or not at all
Inlet valve screens clogged with the sediment Miami water leaves behind, or a failed inlet valve solenoid. We clean the screens first because it is free with the visit; a valve is a $20 part with an hour of labor.
Leaking from the front or the bottom
Front leaks are a torn door boot, and LG boots tear at the fold where detergent residue builds. Bottom leaks are the drain pump housing, a hose clamp, or on older units the tub-to-pump bellows. A bottom leak with a spin noise is the bearing story above.
Smells like mildew, black marks on clothes
Biofilm in the boot fold and the drum. In our humidity a front-loader that is closed between loads grows it in a season. We deep-clean the boot and drum, replace the boot if the mold is inside the rubber, and show you the door-open habit that keeps it away.

Is your LG washer still under warranty?
LG covers the direct-drive motor for ten years on most front-loaders and top-loaders sold since 2016, and the whole machine for one year. The motor warranty covers the part only, but it is the expensive part. If your washer is under seven years old and throwing LE, ask us to check the serial number before you approve anything. As an authorized center we can file the claim directly.
Repair or replace
Pumps, sensors, locks, valves, boots and boards are worth fixing on any LG washer under ten years old. The decision point is the drum bearing on a machine past seven or eight years: the rebuild reaches roughly half the price of a new WM4000, and the tub seal that failed once will be the same design. We quote both numbers. On a WashTower the math changes, because the washer half cannot be replaced alone, and a bearing rebuild there is almost always the right call.

My LG washer shows OE. Can I fix it myself?
Sometimes. Open the small door at the bottom left, put a towel down, and unscrew the filter cap; if a coin or sock falls out, you are done. If the filter is clean and the code returns, the pump has failed and needs replacing, which runs $180 to $320.
How much does it cost to fix an LG washer that is loud on spin?
If it is the drum bearing, $420 to $680 for the rebuild or $520 to $840 for a new outer tub. If it is a shock absorber, $220 to $380 for the set. We tell you which one it is at the diagnosis, before you approve anything.
What does the LE code mean on an LG washer?
A motor position error. Usually the hall sensor on the direct-drive motor, sometimes a chafed harness, rarely the stator. The motor itself is under LG’s ten-year part warranty on most models, so check the serial before paying for one.

Yes. WashTower washers use the same drum, pump and motor platform as the WM4000 series, and we carry those parts. Access is through the front and the side, so the unit does not need to be moved out of its closet.
