Bosch washers in South Florida live in condos. Bosch washer error codes and what they mean
E18, E17 or E13: will not drain, door stays locked
The drain pump. Bosch compacts have the pump filter behind the small lower door, and it fills with lint, coins and hair ties faster than a full-size machine because the drum is smaller. Clearing it is the whole repair a third of the time. When the filter is clean and the code returns, the pump motor has failed. E13 specifically points to a long drain, which is a partial blockage in the hose or the standpipe.
E23 or E36: water in the base pan, aquastop tripped
Bosch puts a float switch in the base of the washer. Any leak inside the cabinet, from a split hose, a cracked pump housing or a door boot, drops water on the float and the machine stops and pumps out. We find the source with the panel off, fix it, and dry the pan so the float resets. The aquastop inlet hose itself can also trip if its internal valve has failed.
E16, E32 or door will not open after the cycle
Door lock assembly. E16 is the door not registering as closed; a door that stays locked with water inside is the same lock failing the other way. We drain through the pump filter first so nothing floods the closet, then replace the lock.
E29 or E12: will not fill
Inlet valve screens clogged with mineral grit, the aquastop hose valve closed, or a failed inlet valve. Screens are cleaned free with the visit. A closed aquastop is a hose replacement.
Loud roar on spin, water under the machine
Drum bearing and tub seal. Bosch bearings last longer than most, ten to twelve years on a compact, but the drum on the 300 and 500 Series is a sealed unit and the repair means an outer tub assembly. We quote it honestly against a new machine and it is often still the right call on an 800 Series stacked pair.
E02, E67 or dead panel
Motor fault or a control module that has lost its programming. We meter the motor and the carbon brushes on older Axxis units before condemning a module, because brushes are a $40 part and a module is not.
Smells of mildew, grey film in the boot

Pumps, locks, hoses, valves, brushes, boots and modules are worth doing on any Bosch washer under twelve years old. The line is the drum bearing, which on a compact means an outer tub assembly at $560 to $900 against a new 500 Series at roughly twice that. On a stacked pair where the dryer is healthy, the tub repair is usually still the right call, because a new washer may not match the old stacking kit or the old dryer.
