Amana washer and dryer problems

Washer fills and agitates, will not spin
The shifter actuator under the tub on the NTW platform, or the lid lock that refuses to let it spin. Both same-visit Whirlpool parts. On the older direct-drive Amanas, the motor coupler.
Washer grinds, oil spot underneath
The gearcase. A solid repair under eight years; past that we quote a new machine beside it, because an Amana is priced to replace.
Washer will not drain
The drain pump, clogged with a sock or failed. Reached from the back on the NTW top-loaders. Cleared or replaced same visit.
Washer walks or bangs on spin
Sagged suspension rods on the top-loaders, replaced as a set of four. Shocks on the NFW front-loaders.
Washer will not fill, or fills forever
Inlet screens packed with mineral grit, a failed inlet valve, or a stuck water level switch. Screens are cleaned free with the visit.
Dryer runs but no heat
Electric NED: the thermal fuse or the heating element. Gas NGD: the igniter, flame sensor or valve coils. We check the vent airflow with every heating repair because the vent is why the fuse blew.
Dryer squeals or thumps
Drum rollers, idler pulley and belt, replaced as a maintenance kit with the drum out. The 29-inch Whirlpool platform under the Amana badge, and the cheapest kit in the industry.
Dryer will not start, hums, or drum does not turn
A snapped belt, a broken belt switch, a door switch, or the drive motor. Belts and switches are truck stock.
