Freezer trouble in Aventura's towers: what we actually find
Aventura has almost no garages, so we rarely see a chest freezer here. What we see instead are the freezer sections of side-by-side and French-door units in the condos along Biscayne Boulevard and out on Williams Island — and the classic complaint is a bottom drawer that frosts into a sheet of ice while the fridge above stays warm. Nine times out of ten that's the defrost circuit: a failed heater or a defrost thermostat that no longer closes, letting the evaporator glaze over until air can't move through it.
The Intracoastal air adds its own layer. Door gaskets near the water absorb salt-heavy humidity, harden, and stop sealing at the corners; every gap pulls in moist air that becomes frost on the coils and doubles the compressor's workload.
