Thermador Appliance Repair in Miami & South Florida

Factory-trained service across South Florida. Call (754) 345-4515 or schedule online.

You’re prepping dinner in your Aventura condo and the Thermador Star Burner cooktop’s center burner won’t catch. The three around it light fine; the center one clicks and clicks and gives nothing. Thermador put a lot of engineering into that star-shaped burner pattern — five points of flame radiating from a central jet for more even pan coverage — and when the center jet clogs or the ignitor weakens, that’s the one that fails first. We service Thermador cooktops, ranges, wall ovens, ProGrand suites, and built-in refrigeration across Miami and South Florida. Most calls land in luxury condo buildings and renovated single-family homes in Brickell, Aventura, Coral Gables, and Boca Raton. Call (754) 345-4515 and we’ll have a factory-trained tech out, often the same day, with OEM Thermador parts on the truck.

About Thermador

Thermador has been making appliances in the U.S. since 1916, originally as a heating company in Los Angeles. They invented the wall oven category in 1955 — that’s the original Thermador. BSH (Bosch-Siemens) acquired the brand in 1998 and now builds Thermador in shared facilities with Bosch and Gaggenau, sharing platforms while keeping distinctive designs. The Star Burner cooktop, the Sapphire dishwasher, the Steam Convection wall ovens, and the Freedom refrigeration columns are the four product lines you’ll see most often in South Florida. Thermador’s sweet spot is the upper-middle of the luxury market — slightly less than Sub-Zero/Wolf, slightly more than Bosch Benchmark. You’ll see Thermador heavily in newer Aventura and Brickell condo construction (Related, Fortune International, Property Markets Group all spec it), Coral Gables remodels, and Boca Raton communities like St. Andrews and Royal Palm Yacht Club.

Common Thermador Problems We Fix

A handful of issues come through our shop nearly every week:

  • Star Burner ignitor failure. The center burner clicks but won’t light. The ignitor electrode at the center of the star pattern degrades after 4-6 years of normal use. OEM replacement is in stock; about a 45-minute job.
  • Sapphire dishwasher E15 error. Water in the base pan trips the float switch. We dry the pan, find the leak (usually the door gasket or a kinked drain hose), and reset. If it’s a recurring E15 the sump assembly might need attention.
  • Wall oven F2, F3, F7 error codes. F2 is keypad fault, F3 is oven sensor open, F7 is door latch fault. All three are common on the ME and PODM series wall ovens. Sensors and latches stocked on the truck.
  • Freedom column refrigerator door alarm beeping. The reed switch in the door fails or the door alignment shifts. Mostly a 20-minute adjustment, occasionally a switch replacement.
  • Steam oven (MES) water reservoir won’t fill. The fill pump or the water level sensor fails. Miami’s hard water silts these up; we descale during every service visit.
  • Cooktop downdraft motor failure. Thermador downdraft cooktops have a notoriously cramped motor compartment. We’ve seen the motor bearings fail at 6-8 years; replacement is OEM and the labor runs about 90 minutes.
  • ProGrand range convection element burnout. The upper convection element on the PRD and PRG 48-inch ranges can short to the housing. Pulling the back panel and replacing the element is straightforward; ours techs do this monthly.

South Florida Service Areas

We service Thermador across Miami-Dade, Broward, and southern Palm Beach. Heavy call volume in Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Brickell, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Coconut Grove, and Key Biscayne. In Broward we cover Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas, Lighthouse Point, Hillsboro Beach, Parkland, and Weston. In southern Palm Beach we run Boca Raton, Highland Beach, and Delray Beach. We stock the most common Thermador parts and clear about 70 percent of repairs on the first visit.

What to Expect

Service call is $59, applied to the repair if you approve. Two-hour arrival window with a 30-minute text when the tech is on the way. Every Thermador call goes to a tech who’s factory-trained on the BSH platforms, which means Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau are all in the same wheelhouse. OEM ignitors, oven sensors, door latches, dishwasher sump parts, and water-line components ride on the truck. Special-order parts (specific cooktop control boards, ProGrand parts) may push a job to two visits.

FAQ

My Thermador Star Burner won’t light just the center burner — is that a gas problem?
Almost never gas — it’s the ignitor. The center electrode is the highest-wear part of the star pattern because every other burner shares its spark. Replacement is quick.

Sapphire dishwasher keeps showing E15 — should I just unplug and reset?
You can reset by tilting the unit forward and draining the base pan, but the underlying leak is still there. We find the source so it doesn’t keep tripping.

How long does a Thermador wall oven last?
Fifteen to twenty years for the cabinet and convection system. Touch panels and door latches are the wear items.

Freedom column refrigerator is freezing my produce — bad thermostat?
Usually a damper or evaporator-fan issue, not the thermostat. Freedom columns rely on a damper to mix cold air; when the damper sticks open, the fresh-food side over-cools.

Do you service the older Thermador downdraft slide-in ranges (SGSX, SCD)?
Yes. Parts get scarce on the pre-2005 models but most repairs are still possible.

Will you work on Thermador outdoor BBQs?
Yes — Pro-Grand outdoor and the gas grill modules. Salt air takes a toll, so we also do preventive cleanings.

Thermador Maintenance That Extends Service Life

The Star Burner cooktops need monthly cap maintenance. Pull the caps, soak them in white vinegar for 15 minutes, brush the secondary ports with a soft brass brush, and dry completely before re-seating. The center jet is the highest-wear part of the star pattern and benefits from extra attention.

For Sapphire dishwashers, run a maintenance cycle with citric-acid dishwasher cleaner monthly. Miami’s hard water silts up the spray arms and the heating element faster than in most U.S. markets. Check the filter at the bottom of the tub weekly — food debris that gets past the filter clogs the drain pump.

The Freedom column refrigerators need door alignment checks at 6-month intervals. Heavy panel doors settle and a half-degree of misalignment is enough to break the magnetic gasket seal at one corner, which means the compressor runs longer than it should.

For steam ovens, descale every two to three months. Run the descale cycle, then flush with two empty fill cycles. Hard-water buildup is the leading cause of MES water pump failure.

Where Thermador Lives in South Florida

Modern luxury kitchen, German-engineered preference. Thermador is a BSH brand (Bosch / Siemens / Thermador / Gaggenau group) and shows up heavily in modern Coral Gables and Coconut Grove kitchens where the homeowner specs the One-Two-Free package (range + dishwasher + free hood, or range + fridge + free dishwasher). The PRD486 and PRD606 Pro Grand ranges are our most common Thermador service calls in 33134, 33133, and 33156. The Freedom Collection column refrigeration competes directly with Sub-Zero Designer in modern minimalist kitchens.

Thermador Service Interval Recommendations

The cadences below come from our field experience on Thermador in South Florida — humidity, salt air, and high-traffic kitchens push intervals tighter than the manufacturer manuals usually publish.

Item Recommended cadence
Burner igniter electrode cleaning monthly
Steam generator descale (PRD steam) every 6 months in Miami
Induction surface ventilation check every 12 months
Convection fan inspection every 12 months
Built-in fridge condenser cleaning every 6 months
Dishwasher Star Speed pump filter every 30 cycles

Thermador and the South Florida Climate

Thermador steam ovens (PRD steam and steam-only models) need aggressive descaling in South Florida because Miami tap water averages 320-380 ppm TDS. The steam generator scales fast and we see the E1531 code cluster in homes that haven’t done a 6-month descale. We descale with the OEM kit and recommend a whole-house filter upstream of the appliance line for any client paying $10,000+ for a steam oven.

Thermador Extended Repair Pricing

Pricing below is the working range our techs see on Thermador in 2026 across South Florida. The bottom of each range is a straightforward part-swap; the top accounts for harder access, additional diagnostics, or rare-stock parts that require special-order fulfillment.

Repair Typical range
Steam generator descale service $185-$285
Hot-surface igniter (PRG/PRD oven) $285-$385
Touch UI module Thermador Connect $485-$685
Induction coil module (per zone) $385-$540
Convection fan motor $340-$485
Pro Grand griddle plate replacement $485-$685
Dishwasher Star Sapphire control board $385-$540
Door hinge cassette (built-in fridge) $285-$385

What Happens on the First Thermador Visit

Every Thermador call starts the same way. The tech confirms the model and serial number on the data plate, photographs the install for the file, and asks two or three diagnostic questions before pulling the unit. Bringing the right error code, the unit’s age, and any recent power events (lightning, brown-out, breaker trip) to the call cuts diagnostic time roughly in half. Most Thermador repairs finish on the first visit if the model is current production and the failure matches a common pattern. Sealed-system work, control-board replacements, or specialty parts that need to ship from outside our local warehouse can stretch to a return visit.

Before the tech leaves, you get a written estimate with the part number, the labor charge, the warranty coverage, and the expected completion date if a part needs to be ordered. We don’t charge for the estimate beyond the $59 service call (which applies to the repair if you approve the quote). If the unit isn’t worth repairing — which happens occasionally on Thermador units past the 15-20 year mark — we say so plainly and refund any deposit beyond the service call. Honest repair-vs-replace math is a core part of how we work.

More Thermador Questions We Get

Is Thermador the same as Bosch?
Same parent company (BSH Home Appliances) but distinct product lines. Thermador is positioned above Bosch in the BSH lineup and shares no model platforms with Bosch — they share supply chain, parts pipeline, and BSH Home Connect software.

Where is the Thermador serial number?
PRD/PRG ranges: pull lower storage drawer, look at frame. POD/MED wall ovens: open door, left inside frame. Freedom column fridges: inside top, on a label visible when door is open.

How does the One-Two-Free package warranty work?
Standard 2-year factory warranty on every appliance plus extended limited coverage on specific components. The ‘free’ appliance carries the same warranty as the paid units. We file warranty claims through BSH directly.

Can my old Thermador wall oven be repaired or do I need a new one?
Most pre-2010 Thermador wall ovens have replacement boards, sensors, igniters, and door hinges available through the BSH parts pipeline or NOS sourcing. Touch UI modules from the early 2000s are getting scarce; we cross-reference where possible.

Why is my Thermador induction cooktop only powering 2 of 4 zones?
Usually a coil-driver board failure rather than a coil failure. The CIT and CIS series run paired coils off shared driver modules, and one module failing kills two zones. We diagnose with the BSH service menu and replace the affected driver.
